This small town, located under the Sierra de Queralt, is the capital of the region of Berguedá. Eating in Berga means enjoying a gastronomy with a lot of personality, where you have to try the artisan embutidos (sausage). There’s not a lot of bars and restaurants, but the few ones will be enough to make you fall in love for the Catalan cuisine.
Berga has a cuisine with a lot of personality and quality thanks to the ingredients, which come from the local agriculture and ranching. Their vegetable garden produces products such as the black peas and the blat de moro escairat, a type of local corn that has been cultivated since the 18th Century. With this products some typical dishes are prepared, such as the enmascaradas potatoes, cocked with black butifarra.
The embutidos, as well as the cheese and the honey, are the main products of the artisan gastronomy. Regarding the ranching, the meat from Berga has a great quality due to the process of natural fattening. The mushrooms and other products from the forest ar very appreciated in the region, which celebrates every year the Fiesta del Bolet. To finish the meal, nothing better than a glass of Aromas de Queralt, a sweet and strong liquor made in the region. The Fiesta del Patum is the perfect occasion to enjoy the gastronomy of Berga.
If you want to try a little bit of everything and share some portions, we recommend the bar Uummm…!!!. Yes, that’s it’s name. The best option is to eat tapas and their embutidos, croquetas, calamari and another elaborated options. They don’t have a lot of variety, but the quality if great.
La Lluna is a simple bar with a terrace where you can eat some tapas and hamburgers. The stuffed eggplants are good. On the other hand, it is probably better to eat “a la carte” is you are in this village.
The restaurant La Cabana is an elegant place with great views. They offer a la carte food, a delicious menu, tapas… The peas with cod are a good option. An excellent restaurant if you choose to eat in Berga.
Another great place to eat in Berga is Sant Marc, where homemade Catalan food is served. The service is welcoming and the presentation of the dishes is amazing. The meat, such as the entrecôte, is their specialty.
