Eating in Coca

Eating in Coca

If you have thought about eating in Coca you should know that the protagonist of this town, as a part of Segovia, is meat. And the best to accompaign it is a nice glass of wine. You’ll be able to find all these things in the few but great restaturants of Coca.

If you are not sure about what to order, in Coca as in the whole province the most typical dish is roasted pig which you can also eat as a warm salad of pig meat. For the coolest days we recommend a “cocido castellano” or a stew of níscalos during the mushroom season. At the begining of March the area celebrates the killing of the pork (matanza) and right after different excellent products are made: picadillo, morcilla, chorizo, pancetas, etc.

If you are looking for something more modern you should pick the dishes that are based on ducks and “capones” grown in the proximities. They are cooked in orange sauce, baked, candied and served with baked potatoes. Everything accompanied by the wines Valtiendas with D.O. which will be offered to you in every restaurant you visit. Don’t forget to end your meal with a typical “Ponche Segoviano”.

If you are looking for a nice “tapeo”, you’ll find nice raciones, tapas and montaditos at El Castillo. We recommend the eggplant, chorizo, egg and gula montadito. In addition, you can order croquetas, bravas and musrooms. Everything is homemade and the service is really polite but it may be a bit expensive due to its location.

Here are some of the restaurants where you can eat in Coca:

La Muralla, with Roman decoration offers roasted pig and lamb but alse some good fishes and seafood. Some of the dishes must be ordered in advance. The service is very professional and our travellers’ community thinks that it is one of the best options in Coca.

It is appropriated for groups and celebrations as it has two big rooms and a long terrace. Its menu sometimes you may be able to enjoy some judiones and pork for 25€. Another great option for eating in Coca.

Nearby, in Villaverde de Iscar (12km) main square, we find Los Chicos. A restaurant of Castilian food with a wood oven. You won’t be able to choose!
