In the Sierra Cabrera, in the easternmost region of Almeria, we find Mojácar, which treasures a large cultural legacy owing, above all, to its Muslim past. It is divided into two different urban centers: “Mojácar Pueblo”, the historic area on top of the hill, and “Mojácar Playa”, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Its cuisine mixes different dishes obtaining a selection of very diverse recipes and with a lot of flavor.

The gastronomy of Mojácar is characterized by its diverse influences and by the products of the Almería orchard that enjoy excellent quality and fame. The Arab presence in this territory gives rise to dishes such as couscous. But if we refer to typical dishes, you have to try the gurullos (wheat flour with the shape of a grain of rice), the morjaqueña blood sausage, the garlic color, the ball stews (chickpeas with bacon, minced meat, blood sausage, bones, etc. .), the paprika broth, the crumbs or the caldosos rice.

It is important the culinary tradition of this town in relation to the sea, do not have any doubt that you will eat some delicious fish. The most famous in the municipality are the rooster pedro (very popular, grilled or fried), the spits of sardines or horse mackerel, the grilled squid or the romana, the anchovies breaded or in vinegar, the red mullet, the cuttlefish in salsa, the octopus with the vinaigrette and the exquisite prawn of Garrucha.
