El Barco de Ávila is the most important village of the natural region of Alto Tormes. It probably owes its name to a small boat used to cross the river. It’s an interesting historic site and among its attractions are the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Church and the Valdecorneja Castle.
We selected for you the best places to stay in El Barco de Ávila.
Our favourite place in El Barco de Ávila is the Izan Puerta de Gredos, an hotel complex with five different buildings. There is a spa, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room, pools and a gym, to make you relax. If you book a double room, you will enjoy a hot tub.
The Hotel Mirador de Gredos is another great option. It’s a big building located on the banks the Tormes River, built with hardwood. It has 96 rooms, terraces, a big hall with a fireplace and some conference rooms. Its dining room is for up to 250 guests and there is also a wedding hall.
And last, but not least, the Hotel Bellavista, a place where you can do a lot of sports and cultural activities, as well as enjoy the cuisine of the area. The staff is very kind and helpful and they often present their guests with a typical product.
If you don’t want to stay in the historical center of Barco de Ávila and you want to enjoy the surroundings, we recommend you the Casa Rural Luna Rosa, in Lancharejo. It’s close to Barco de Ávila and 25 km from Baños de Montemayor. From your bed you can watch the moon!
